French Plastic Chess Set, 1950's
A French chess set from the 1950's with pieces made of plastic, one side white, the other side red. With a king size of just 6 cm, the pieces are rather small. The design was obviously strongly influenced by the "Knubbel" chessmen. The set comes in a silk padded presentation case. I have seen such sets before, but never with this kind of case and always with severe damages, in particular to the delicate kings' crowns, so I was more than happy to find a set in this wonderful condition. The quality of the plastic is very high with seams which are hardly visible, if at all.
