Chess in Old Russia, Isaak M. Linder, 190 p.

The book was written by the renowned chess historian Isaak Maxowitsch Linder, who authored over 400 publications on native and foreign chess culture. Linder passed away on 30 October 2015 at the age of 94, just 21 days prior to his 95th birthday. 

The book, which is part of the Academy of Sciences of the U.S.S.R. Series "From the History of World Culture", was first published in Moscow under its original title "шахматы на россии " in 1964. The second supplemented and revised edition was published in Moscow in 1975. The english edition was first published by Michael Kühne Publishers, Zurich/Switzerland, in 1979.
