Austro-Hungarian Chess Set, first half of the 20th century

A simple chess set with a variation of the Austro-Hungarian coffee house style, which was probably made in the first half of the 20th century. I am not a wood expert, but the pieces seem to be turned from linden wood, one side natural, one side lacquered in black. The set is not weighted and shows signs of heavy use. King size is 8.7 cm. The kings and queens show a certain resemblance with the Soviet mushroom sets.
