Philippine Staunton Chess Set, ca. 1970-1980

Here is probably my most elegant Philippine Staunton chess set in pristine condition with a king size of approximately 10 cm. In contrast to the usual Philippine Staunton sets, the pieces in this one are very slender with rather slim stems and triple collars on the kings, queens and bishops. Also, the crosses on the kings differ from the so called "rosary cross" usually seen on Filipino sets. The most outstanding pieces are the bishops, which have extremely unusual heads. Despite being quite modern, sets of this type are somewhat rare. I have only seen this type about 4-5 times so far and only know very few collectors who have a set like this in their collection. The last picture shows the beautiful kamagong grain on the black side pieces.
