This is a very elegant wooden Soviet chess set. According to the seller, the set is from the 1920's/1930's, but there is not prrof for that. Another experienced vendor dated the set not earlier than 1950's. Anyhow, in my opinion the pieces have a very nice design reminding me of some Art Déco features. The pieces are made from wood, the white pieces with the reddish varnish typical for Soviet chess sets. The set came together with a Soviet Folding Board, Karelian Birchwood, 1940-1960. A wonderful set and board.
