Philippine Staunton Chess Set, Oversize (7"), ca. 1930-1970

Here is another giant Philippine Staunton set with a king size just short of 7". The dark pieces are made of Kamagong wood, which shows the typical lively and fiery wood grain. The white pieces are not made from Narra wood, as in many other Philippine sets, but from a much lighter wood, both in colour as well as in weight.

The set came with a giant wooden board. The outer dimension is 90 cm (35.5"). Square size is 8.5 cm (3.35").

The set came with an expert opinion from a German auction house dating the set to the 1930's, which I think is wrong. I would think that it is of a later date. But anything between 1930 and 1970 seems to be correct.
